THE  MANUFACTURE  OF  OUR  TILES

ZELLIGE TILES FROM FÈS

Zellige lies at the heart of Morocco's tile-making tradition. It is produced by hand in Fès – a city where this craft has a history stretching back more than a thousand years. Each tile is made from local clay, which is quarried in the vicinity of the city. The clay is kneaded, shaped into square forms and left to dry naturally in the sun.

Once dry, the tiles are slowly fired in ancient wood-fired kilns. Each piece is then hand-glazed using traditional techniques. The glaze is applied with a brush and, during the second firing, acquires its characteristic sheen and subtle irregularity. The result is tiles that play with light, have a vibrant surface and are each unique.

Zellige tiles bear the marks of human hands, nature and the passage of time. Their beauty lies in their imperfections – it is precisely these that bring depth, texture and soul to an interior.

CEMENT TILES FROM MARRAKESH

Handcrafted in the heart of Marrakesh

Our cement tiles are crafted in a traditional workshop in Marrakesh – a city where history and craftsmanship come together at every turn. They are made by experienced craftsmen who have passed down the production techniques from generation to generation. Each tile is shaped, coloured and pressed by hand – without the use of kilns or high temperatures.

Production begins with the preparation of the coloured mixture – pigments are mixed with marble dust, cement and water to create a rich, coloured paste. This is poured by hand into brass moulds that form a specific pattern. After the coloured layers have been applied, a grey cement mixture is added and the entire mould is pressed by hand. The tiles are then left to cure for several weeks to develop their strength and durability.

This process does not require firing – it is environmentally friendly, quiet and based purely on pressure and patience. As a result, the cement tiles have a velvety matt finish, subtle colour transitions and a deep character.

Our designs are created in collaboration with designers or directly in Marrakech, where we draw inspiration from the local architecture and ornamentation. Each series is limited edition, and every piece bears the unique imprint of the human hand.

A cement tile from Marrakesh is not just a floor – it is a story, a rhythm and a tribute to craftsmanship.
